The Rolex Submariner Date 116610LV was introduced in 2010 as the successor to the anniversary “Kermit.” It marked an important evolution for the Submariner line: a 41 mm Super Case, a green Cerachrom bezel, and for the first time, a green sunburst dial. Crafted in stainless steel and rated to 300 meters, it retained the classic Submariner tool-watch credentials while embracing a more contemporary, muscular presence. Inside is the Calibre 3135, a proven workhorse movement known for long-term reliability and ease of service.
This reference stayed in production until 2020, when it was discontinued and replaced by the 126610LV — making the 116610LV a closed chapter in Submariner history.
What truly defines the 116610LV is the dial-and-bezel combination. Unlike the earlier Kermit, which paired a black dial with a green bezel, the Hulk went all-in with green — bold, reflective, and highly distinctive. The sunburst dial shifts dramatically under light, giving the watch multiple personalities depending on conditions.
It was also part of Rolex’s transition toward more modern aesthetics: broader lugs, heavier bracelet, and a more solid, contemporary feel. These design choices were debated at launch but later became part of its identity.
