Patek Philippe Gondolo 5111J

In the early 20th century, halfway across the world from Geneva, a remarkable partnership flourished between Patek Philippe and a prestigious Brazilian retailer named Gondolo & Labouriau. Their collaboration was so successful that at one point, nearly a third of all Patek Philippe watches were sold through this single firm in Rio de Janeiro. These were no ordinary timepieces—they were “Chronometro Gondolo,” special creations distinguished by exquisite craftsmanship, solid gold components, and precision mechanisms tailored for Brazil’s tropical climate. Fast forward nearly a century to 1993, Patek Philippe reintroduced this legacy through the Gondolo collection, inspired by those golden-age masterpieces and the unmistakable elegance of the Art Deco era. Amidst this revival emerged the Gondolo 5111J, launched around 2004. Clad in 18K yellow gold, the 5111J embraced the geometry and refinement of the original Gondolos with a long rectangular case, hand-guilloché dial, and a recessed small seconds display.
