Omega went back to its chronograph designs from the 1940s when developing the Chronoscope, and you can see that influence immediately on the dial. The overlapping tachymeter, telemeter and pulsometer scales create that distinctive vintage snail dial appearance, something we don’t often see on modern Speedmasters.
There’s quite a lot of information packed into the dial, yet the silver background, blued hands and Arabic numerals give it a surprisingly classical appearance. I like how Omega has combined these older design elements with the modern hand-wound Calibre 9908. At 43mm, it’s certainly larger than the chronographs that inspired it, but the overall design has a character of its own. A rather interesting alternative to the usual Moonwatch.
