Who says watchmaking has to be serious all the time? Franck Muller’s Crazy Hours has always been one of the more entertaining complications in modern watchmaking. The hour numerals are deliberately arranged out of order, and instead of following the usual clockwise sequence, the hour hand jumps to the correct numeral every 60 minutes. The minute hand, meanwhile, continues moving normally.

Pair that with the colourful Colour Dreams numerals, an 18k rose-gold case and the curved Vanguard design, and you have a watch that’s full of personality. I like that there’s a genuine mechanical complication behind the playful appearance. It’s not just about having a colourful dial. Franck Muller has taken something as ordinary as reading the time and made it a little more interesting.
