Collector’s Insight

Blue ceramic isn’t something we come across very often, especially in a pilot’s chronograph. With the Oceana, IWC has taken its familiar TOP GUN design and given it an entirely different appearance. The matte blue ceramic case, matching dial and blue strap work particularly well together, without making the watch look overly colourful.

There’s also something appealing about the way ceramic looks and feels compared to a conventional steel case. The matte finish gives the watch a more technical appearance, while the 41.9mm case keeps the proportions more manageable than the larger TOP GUN chronographs. It’s a good example of how changing the material and colour can give an already familiar design a different personality
